To obtain a coating composition for a moisture proofing coat excellent in moistureproof and waterproof properties, capable of readily being disaggregated when the waste paper is recovered and preventing a trouble such as whitening by folding, slipping and blocking from being caused by adding a paraffin wax and a polyolefin modified by a hydrophilic group to an aqueous binder.
This coating composition for a moisture proofing coat is obtained by adding (B) 5-100 pts.wt. of a component comprising 95-50wt.% of a paraffin wax and 5-50wt.% of a polyolefin modified by a hydrophilic group to (A) 100 pts.wt. expressed in terms of solid of an aqueous binder (e.g. a water- dispersed resin). The coating composition is suitable for a packing material of paper products apt to be damaged by moisture such as raw paper of a newspaper and xerographic paper, corrugated board for packing contents apt to be damaged by the moisture, etc.
