This coating composition for the outside surfaces of deep-drawn food cans is characterized by comprising a polyester resin not containing a bisphenol type derived raw material and having a solid content hydroxy group value of 5 to 15, a solid content acid value of <2, and a number-average mol.wt. of 10,000 to 12,000, and a butyl etherified benzoguanamine resin not containing a bisphenol type derived raw material and having a number-average mol.wt. of 1,200 to 1,400.
