Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a coating composition excellent in inhibitory effector algal adherence to ship, not causing its debonding and cracking, etc., comprising a specific copper complex salt and a copolymer made up of a triorganosilyl group-bearing unsaturated monomer and a polyxyethylene group-bearing unsaturated monomer.
CONSTITUTION: This coating composition having the above advantages essentially comprises a copolymer made from a triorganosilyl group-bearing unsaturated monomer of formula I (R1-R3 are each a 1-20C hydrocarbon; X is acryloyloxy, methacryloyloxy, maleinoyloxy, fumaroyloxy or itaconoyloxy) (e.g. trimethylsilyl methacrylate) and an alkoxy or aryloxyethylene oxide group-bearing unsaturated monomer of formula II (R4 is an alkyl or aryl; Y is the same kind as X; (n) is an integer of 1-25) (e.g. methoxypolyethylene glycol acrylate) and bis(2- pyridinethiol-1-oxide) copper salt of formula III.
