Abstract:

PURPOSE: To achieve strength reliability of a spacer by securing the strength of the spacer simultaneously with a reduction in pressure loss in a nuclear fuel assembly.
CONSTITUTION: In a spacer 4B positioned above the upper end of fuel rods of unfull length, round cells 1 are arranged at all positions corresponding to fuel rods 7 between bathtubs 3 facing each other and there is no round cells at the positions corresponding to the unfull-length fuel rods in other areas. The unfull-length fuel rods are arranged only below the positions void of the round cells of the spacer 4B. In other embodiments, the round cells are removed with a spacer 4D and a spacer 4E which have the round cells 1 existing at all positions corresponding to the fuel rods 7 between the bathtubs 3 facing each other so that the positions void of the round cells shift and these spacers 4D and 4E are arranged alternately in the axial direction of the fuel rods.
