PURPOSE: To prevent a printed material from being stained by making the face of a printing plate cylinder corresponding to non-printing line part of a gravure printing plate as a recessed part.
CONSTITUTION: In a thermal transfer sheet, when a heat-meltable ink layer is formed on one of the faces of a base film 1, majority of the ink layer is made to be a black ink layer 2a and other part is made to be a colored ink layer 2b and in addition, the colored ink part is not limited to one color and it may be two or three or more colors. Among pressure cylinder 6 pressing the base film 1 on a gravure printing plate 3, a region corresponding to colored ink layer 2b (a non-printing line part) is made a recessed part. As in the region 7, a part for a colored ink layer 2b is not pressed on a gravure roll 3, even when the performance of a doctor 5 is lowered and a black ink remains on a non-printing line part of a gravure printing plate 3, the black ink 2a is not transferred on the colored ink layer 2b of the base film 1 and staining of the colored ink layer 2b caused by the black ink 2a does not occur.
