PURPOSE: To coat both ends and the central part of a chip component with a paint by a method wherein a plurality of through holes which are opened on both faces and a frame body in which intermediate parts on both faces are provided with gaps are used.

CONSTITUTION: A jig in which a frame body 22 is provided with a gap 26 in the intermediate part between both faces over its whole face, in which elastic bodies 23 are installed so as to be separated on both sides by leaving the gap having a width narrower than the length of a chip component 8 and in which through holes 24, 25 surrounded by the elastic bodies 23 are opened respectively on both sides of the gap 26 is used. In addition, both end parts 9 are fitted respectively to the through holes 24, 25 in such a way that the central part 10 of the chip component 8 is situated in the part of the gap 26. In this state, a paint is introduced into the gap 26, and it is discharged. After that, the paint which has adhered to the chip component 8 is dried. On the other hand, both end parts 9 of the chip component 8 are made to protrude from the through holes 24, 25, and they can be immersed. Thereby, not only the central part but also both end parts of the chip component can be coated with the paint by using the same jig.
