PURPOSE: To easily and distinctly form non-coated parts with the coater which can make striped coating of a continuous band-shaped object by placing plural pieces of supplying devices having liquid reserving parts and supply ports apart prescribed spacings in parallel with the transverse direction of the continuous band-shaped object.

CONSTITUTION: Plural pieces of the coating liquid supplying devices 22 provided with the liquid reserving parts and the supply ports and the valves to open and close the supply ports at the lower ends thereof are disposed apart the spacings corresponding to the width (a) in the non-coated part of the continuous band-shaped object 10. The coating liquid 11 is supplied to the band-shaped object 10 traveling in the parts of the supply ports and the coating liquid 11 is not supplied to the parts traveling between the adjacent two supply ports in this way. The non-coated parts of the width (a) are thus formed longitudinally. The change of the width (a) of the non-coated parts is executed by changing the spacings of the bodies 22 and the formation of the non-coated parts further in the transverse direction of the band-shaped object 10 is executed by making open and close operations of the above-mentioned valves.
