Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a crosslinkable fluorinated polyester resin which is excellent in clarity, mechanical properties, hydrolysis resistance, water repellency or the like and is suitable for coating materials by reacting a hydroxyl-contg. perfluoropolyether with an acid anhydride, a diacid, and a polyol.
CONSTITUTION: The objective resin is a high-functional crosslinkable fluorinated polyester resin having a fluorine content of 0.5-40 wt.%, and is obtd. by reacting a hydroxyl-terminated perfluoropolyether (A) having an average mol.wt. of 400-3,000 with an acid anhydride (e.g. pyromellitic anhydride) and/or a diacid (B) and a polyol (C) having a functionality of 2 or higher (e.g. trimethylopropane), and can form a xylene soln. with a concn. of 70% wt./wt. Reactant A having a group of formula I [wherein (n) is 0-4; and Rf is a group of formula II (wherein p/q is 0.5-2) or the like] is pref. The resin is obtd. by a two-step polycondensation comprising the step of reacting A with B followed by the step of reacting the resultant product with C, if necessary B.
