To obtain the subject composition capable of forming a coating film excellent in low shrinkage, crack resistance, dyeing property, durability, transparency and scratch resistance at relatively low temperature in a short time and useful for lens, etc., by including a vinyloxy-containing silane compound and an acid-generating polymerization initiator.
This coating composition comprises (A) a compound of the formula R1aR2bSi(OR3)4-(a+b) [R1 is a vinyloxy-containing 4-14C organic group; R2 is a 1-6C (halogenated)hydrocarbon group; R3 is a 1-4C alkyl, alkoxyalkyl or acryl; (a) and (b) are each 1-3 or 0-2 and 1≤(a+b)≤3], (B) a polymerization initiator generating an acid by irradiation of active energy beam and further (c) fine particles having 1-100 μm particle diameter and comprising (composite) oxide of a metal which is Al, Si, Sn, Sb, Ta, Ce, La, Fe, Zn, W, Zr, In or Ti and (D) a thermosetting catalyst.
