Abstract:

To provide: a coating material for a metal surface forming a protective film excellent in transparency and barrier properties against sulfur; a method for protecting a metal surface; and a light emitter devised of higher luminance and longer life.

This coating material for a metal surface comprises an organosilane expressed by formula: Si(OR2)4, at least one silane compound (a1) selected from the group consisting of hydrolysates and condensates of the organosilane, and a polymer (a2) containing a structural unit derived from vinyl alcohol (in the formula, R2s are each independently a 1-5C alkyl group or 1-6C acyl group).
