PURPOSE: To produce a coating member capable of producing a large product which has been hard to produce by tungsten and a product with a complicated shape having ruggedness by bending, drawing or machining by molybdenum or the like and capable of obtaining characteristics close to those of tungsten as for strength, hardness, chemical resistance, molten metal resistance or the like and to provide a method for producing the same.
CONSTITUTION: In a base material constituted of molybdenum or an alloy contg. molybdenum, after the production of a large product having ≥200mm diameter or a product with a compl-icated shape having ruggedness by bending, drawing or machining, the surface part of the base material is coated with tungsten by at least one kind of methods of a thermal spraying method and a CVD method, and furthermore, the boundary part between the base material and tungsten as the coating material is subjected to heat treatment, by which a tungsten-molybdenum solid solution layer having at least 5μm thickness is formed.
