PURPOSE: To prevent the space from being formed by remaining of air between the clothlike or fibrous base material and thermosetting rein by blending the base material with liquid or puttylike thermosetting resin composition and winding at least one layer formed of this resin composition on the surface of a body to be coated and thereafter heating the layer to cure resin.

CONSTITUTION: The clothlike or fibrous base material is blended with liquid or puttylike thermosetting resin composition 2 or is not blended therewith. At least one layer formed of this composition 2 is wound on the surface of a body to be coated, namely a metallic pipe. Thereafter this layer is heated to cure the resin. For example, the coated layer follows the part shaped in different diameter such as an elbow and is closely stuck thereto. This coated layer can be formed without allowing air to remain in the inside thereof. When rust is generated on the outer circumferential face of a metallic pipe and an unevenness is present thereon or the unevenness is present on the outer circumferential face of a cast iron pipe, the above-mentioned liquid or puttylike thermosetting resin composition is buried into the recess of the surface thereof. Thereby the surface is made nearly plane or made to a curved face which is large in radius of curvature and smooth. Winding of the layer is performed in this state.
