To easily set spray coating conditions and at the same time quickly cure a coating material composition by forming a uniform coating film by curing the coating material composition consisting of a polymercapto-compound and carbodiimide type polyisocyanate on a substrate in the presence of a vapor- state amine catalyst.
A coating material composition consisting of a polymercapto- compound and carbodiimide type polyisocyanate to be used for coating film formation on a substrate in the presence of a vapor state amine catalyst is prepared. After a coating film which is not yet cured is formed by spraying the coating material composition to a substrate by a spray gun, the film is brought into contact with a vapor-state amine catalyst to be quickly cured. In this case, as the polymercapto compound, esters of polyols and lower mercaptofatty acids are used and as the carbodiimide type polyisocyanate, carbodiimide type diphenylmethane diisocyanate, carbodiimide type toluene diisocyanate, etc., are used.
