PURPOSE: To prevent skip streaks and enable coating to be accomplished evenly and well even in high-speed coating by providing a bar which controls the picked-up coating liquid to a fixed and even thickness near an applicator roll and an adjacent roll and a roll nip with the adjacent roll.
CONSTITUTION: Coating liquid 2 in a coating liquid pan 1 is picked up by an applicator roll 3 and is transferred to a coating roll 5. Further the amount of coating liquid is defined by a metering roll 6 and the liquid is transferred and coated on the surface of a continuously travelling web 7. A bar 4 for controlling the picked-up coating liquid to a fixed and even thickness and accumulating the coating liquid is proivded near the roll nip near the applicator roll 3 and coating roll 5, by which the picked-up coating liquid surfaces is evened in the width direction and drying in the part below the bar and cavitation at the time of high speed revolution are prevented.
