PURPOSE: To obtain the powder exhibiting excellent resistance to impact and corrosion at high temps. when used for the heat-shielding coating of a metallic member by dissolving Yb2O3 in ZrO2 to obtain the solid soln., and forming ceramics powder wherein Al2O3 is dispersed in said solid soln.

CONSTITUTION: About 8W15wt% Yb2O3 and about 0.5W2.0% Al2O3 are incorporated into the essential component, ZrO2, and a solid soln. of ZrO2 and Yb2O3, wherein cubic and monoclinic crystals of ZrO2 are formed and Al2O3 is dispersed in the grains or the boundary of the grains, is prepared to obtain the heat-shielding coating powder consisting of ceramics powder. The powder is coated on a metallic member such as a liner for a gas turbine combustor by plasma spray coating, etc. to provide a stable heat-shielding coating layer. An intermediate metallic layer, if necessary, is provided between the metallic member and the coating layer to increase the binding force.
