Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a coating resin capable of affording sustainable excellent antifouling coating films free from no problem in terms of safety and human health and enabling preventing organisms from being stuck to ships, fishnets and marine structures such as drains, containing a polymer from a specific unsaturated monomer.
CONSTITUTION: The objective coating resin containing a (co)polymer prepared by polymerizing an unsaturated monomer of formula I [R is H or 1-4C alkyl; Ar is benzene or naphthalene ring; i, m and n are each O or l; X is substituent of formula II, III, etc. (R1 is 1-6C alkylene; f is 0 r 1; Py is 2-, 3- or 4-pyridyl)] singly or by copolymerizing this monomer with another unsaturated monomer copolymerizable therewith. The unsaturated monomer of the formula I is e.g. 2-ethylsulfonylethyl methacrylate, 2-cyanoethyl methacrylate.
