To reduce a circuit scale by sharing a circuit which does not require real-time processing in a syndrome arithmetic part by time-sharing concerning a code error detection correcting device using a BCH (Bose-Chaudhuri- Hochquenghem) code.
Odd numbered syndrome calculation parts (11) and (12) for calculating an odd numbered syndrome by inputting reception signals Y1(x) and Y2(x) are provided by the number of received signals to be processed, but an even numbered syndrome calculation part (13) for calculating an even numbered syndrome by inputting the odd numbered syndrome calculated by the odd numbered syndrome calculation parts is shared by time sharing to the received signals of respective systems. The even numbered syndrome calculation part shares an arithmetic circuit for performing the power of 2 to each odd numbered syndrome by time sharing, and the odd numbered syndrome calculation parts share a conversion part, etc., for performing the base conversion of a dividing result obtained by dividing the received signals by the minimum polynomial of a generating polynomial by the sharing.
