To always and accurately detect a worn condition of battery voltage and to alarm the condition to a user by providing a power supply voltage detecting means to detect power supply voltage of a power supply circuit system and controlling the means to detect the power supply voltage at prescribed timing in image pickup operation when light is emitted.
The power supply voltage of a battery is detected by voltage detectors 2a, 2b, a voltage level to be alarmed to lice user is detected by the voltage detector 2a and a voltage level to stop a circuit to prevent malfunction is detected by the voltage detector 2b. Output of the voltage detectors 2a, 2b are inputted its a system control 3. In this case, timing to receive the output of the voltage detectors in the system control 3 becomes important. Voltage detection timing 2 is detected at the timing in which the battery voltage is lowest and voltage detection timing 1 is detected at the timing in which the battery voltage is stable. Detection accuracy of both of detection timing 1, 2 is improved and of course, both of them are adopted.
