Abstract:
PURPOSE:To increase the compressing ratio to a mixed picture by executing the pattern forecasting coding or the MR coding in accordance with the presence or absence of detection of the special pattern in the mixed picture signal of the input. CONSTITUTION:Detecting devices 1 and 2 respectively detect whether or not the special pattern, which is easy to appear in the pattern composed of plural picture elements of the dither matrix period, appears at the coding pattern and the referring line, the forecasting coding 3 of the input pattern to be coded by the number give to the special pattern is executed and further, a two-dimensional MR coding 4 of the standard coding system is executed. In the mixed picture signal of the input, the variable density picture signal displayed by the binary dither is included, when the special pattern is detected 1 and 2, a changing-over part 5 executes the changing-over from the coding part 4 to the coding part 3, outputs the forecasting coding signal and when the special pattern is not detected, the changing-over is executed from the coding part 3 to the coding part 4, and the MR coding signal is outputted.
