Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that coding has to be made while processing indefinite bits and discriminating constraint length for making coding equipment complex, and constraint length judgment due to variable length coding must be made.
SOLUTION: Coding for outputting a three-bit fixed-length output-coding word or terminating processing is made to the input bit of upper two bits, in an input bit series where DSV control bits that are accumulated in a shift register 110 are inserted using a coding table 111. The terminate processing is made by using a terminate table. A row of codewords having a small DSV value in rows of codeword that are accumulated in coding memories 116 and 117 is outputted from a memory control section 119. The row of codeword is coded as if it is fixed-length coding by using the coding table 111, and is a codeword that is subjected to DSV-controlled variable length coding.
