Abstract:

PURPOSE: To perform grinding of beans regardless of the quantity or hardness of the beans and the extraction of coffee with an appropriate quantity of water automatically, and stop the operation quickly even when coffee is to be extracted erroneously without beans.
CONSTITUTION: At the point when the current of a motor 4, which is measured by a current detecting means 9, becomes stable, it is judged that the grinding of beans is completed by a completion detecting means 12 and the motor 4 is stopped. Also, based on the time required to finish the grinding, the quantity of the beans is judged by a bean quantity measuring means 15 and the quantity of water for an extraction is determined. The kind of beans is judged by a bean quality measuring means 16 by a comparison between the volume of a current at the initial period of the bean grinding and the volume of the current after a specified period of time, and the quantity of water for the extraction is determined. Whether beans are in a bean container 2 or not is judged by a bean-absent operation preventive means 14 according to the scale of a change between the current at the initial period and the current after a specified period of time, and when it is operated without beans, the motor 4 is stopped.
