To provide a new construction for a coffin which brings easy working for putting-in a dead body and has a high sealing property.
This coffin 100 comprises a bottom body 110 and a cover body 120. The bottom body 110 is provided with a flat bottom plate part 111 and a fitting-in frame part 112, the latter has a frame protruding upwardly from the outer edge section of the top surface of the bottom plate part 111 while remaining around outside such a width corresponding to the thickness of side plate parts 121 mentioned below and at the position entered from the edge of the bottom plate just as the above width. Top plate parts 122 are not fixed to the side plate parts 121 and are comprised of three lid parts 122a, 122b, 122c and a closed plate part 122d, wherein the three lid parts are connected mutually so as to be freely foldable in the longitudinal direction of the coffin and a closed plate part 122d is fixed to the side plate parts 121.
