To provide a coil binding method and a coil binding system necessary for the binding method for binding a coil comprising a rolled long plate-like member such as a thin steel sheet using a coil feeding device and a coil binding machine.

In binding a coil 1 placed on the cradle roll of a coil feeding device by a coil binding machine 14, the machine 14 retreats not to interfere with the coil 1 before the coil 1 is placed on the cradle. After the coil 1 is placed on the cradle roll, the right and left shooters 8a, 8b of the machine 14 are joined in a gap formed between the groove of the cradle roll and the outer peripheral face of the coil 1 for a beltlike band 12 to wrap around the whole outer peripheral face of the coil 1 and the band 12 is fed in the shooters 8a, 8b for binding the coil 1.
