PURPOSE: To make it possible to enhance the activity rate of a slitter line by arranging a winding reel downstream of a slitter for cutting a metal strip and by positioning a reel which may be carried on a carrier car, laterally of the slitter so that the steps of winding and removing a coil may be continuously made.

CONSTITUTION: A plurality of spacers 2 are provided at a fixed space for winding up a metal strip 1 therebetween, on a winding reel 3 which is arranged downstream of a slitter line and has at its supporting side a pusher 4. An overhanging type transfer reel 7 adapted to be carried on a carrier car 6 which may laterally move the reel 7 and having a free end, is positioned opposite to the free end of the reel 3. With this arrangement, the metal strip 1 which is slited for driving it, is wound onto the reel 3, and the reel 7 is located on the carrier car 6 and is laterally moved after a coil 1 and the spacers 2 in a bundle are simultaneously shifted to the reel 7 by actuating the pusher 4, thereby the reel 7 is finally transferred to a conveyor 8.
