PURPOSE: To enable the titled feeder to quickly and safely treat the coil end, by mechanically grasping the rear end of the coiled material before this coiled material's rear end enters the looping pit.

CONSTITUTION: The coiled material 2 is completly uncoiled by the pinch roll 3a from the uncoiler 34, and the detector 35 detects the pass of the coil end 2a; at this point, the upper roll 19 of the coil grasping unit 36 goes down and quickly pinches the rear end of the coiled material 2a. After this point that the coil end 2a is pinched by the upper roll 19, the coiled material 2 is permitted by the loop detectors 37, 38, installed in the looping pit to pass the upper limit of the looping amount, and is uninterruptedly fed forward by the prefeed roll 7a and the feed roll 8, until running out of the loop; at this point, the coiled material 2 is stretched in the straight line above the looping pit. Under this condition, the coiled material 2 is pulled by the rolls 7a, 8, and is sent out while being pinched by the upper and lower rolls 19, 29; when the coil end 2a passes over the unit 36, the coiled material 2 hangs down into the looping pit as shown by the arrow mark (d); however, since the length of this hanged material 2 is short, the material 2 is sent out without being injured.
