To provide a coin inspecting device capable of accurately inspecting coin having different surface patterns at a inspection of authenticity of the coin.
The device comprises a coin passage 5 for guiding an introduced coin 3, a magnetizing coil 10 for generating a magnetic field in the coin passage 5, and two receiving coils 11a and 11b for detecting a signal obtained when the coin 3 passes through the magnetic field generated in the coin passage 5 by the magnetizing coil 10. The magnetizing coil 10 has magnetic poles for generating the magnetic field at its one end part and the other end part having different areas, and is disposed with the smaller area end part among the one end part and the other end part faced to a passage wall of the coin passage 5. The receiving coil 11a and 11b are disposed facing the passage wall with a predetermined space near the end part so as to be magnetically coupled with the magnetizing coil 10.
