To provide a coin processor, which executes a highly advanced determination processing algorithm by use of a low-cost processor.
The coin processor 1 determines denomination and authenticity of input coins M and temporarily holds the coins in a tube gate section 7, then stores the coins in any of the change tubes 8a to 8e for storing the coins for each denomination as change, or returns the coins M as they are on the basis of a coin return command. The coin processor 1 includes: a coin inspection section 4 for determining the authenticity of the coins M on the basis of two thresholds, electrically coarse one and dense one; a first gate 5 that is controlled to be opened or closed by semi-determination on the basis of the coarse threshold in the coin inspection section 4; and a denomination separation gate 6 for separating the coins M, which have not been removed as a false coin by the first gate 5, for each denomination, and reviews and determines the authenticity of the coins M having been separated for each denomination on the basis of a dense threshold in the coin inspection section 4.
