Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cold cathode field electron emission element capable of obtaining uniform electron emitting characteristics and strong electric field strength and its manufacturing method, and to provide a cold cathode field electron emission display device.
SOLUTION: In the cold cathode field electron emission element, a cathode electrode is provided on a support, a conductive mask is arranged on this cathode electrode, and an electron emitting part having a tube-shaped or fiber-shaped structure is provided in an opening of this conductive mask. The cold cathode field electron emission display device is constructed so that electrons emitted from the cold cathode field electron emission element cause a fluorescent screen to emit light. The method of manufacturing the cold cathode field electron emission element comprises a step of forming the cathode electrode on the support, a step of disposing the conductive mask on this cathode electrode, and a step of forming the electron emitting part having the tube-shaped or fiber-shaped structure in the opening of this conductive mask.
