To provide a cold-cathode tube lighting device holding a stable lighting state.
The device includes a transformer having a primary winding 13 and a first to a third secondary windings 14 to 16, a driving circuit 11 connected to the primary winding, first and second cold-cathode tubes 17, 18 connected to the first to the third secondary windings, a detection unit 19 for detecting currents flowing in the first and the second cold-cathode tubes, and a control circuit 21 for controlling the driving circuit with a signal input from the detection unit. For connection of the first to the third secondary windings with the first and the second cold-cathode tubes, one of the ends 14a of the first secondary winding is grounded and the other end 14b is connected to one of the ends 17a of the first cold-cathode tube, the other end 17b of the first cold-cathode tube is connected to one of the ends 15a of the second secondary winding while the other end 15b is connected to one of the end 18a of the second cold-cathode tube, and the other end 18b of the second cold-cathode tube is connected to one of the ends 16a of the third secondary winding while the other end 16b is grounded though the detection unit 19.
