To provide a cold-crucible melting furnace for avoiding overheat and damage of a heat buffer member by appropriately performing a next-step processing when a temperature of a molten metal is increased to a desired value.
A cold-crucible melting furnace includes a furnace body 10 having a storage recess 10a for storing a metal to be molten, and an induction heating coil 30 arranged on the outer peripheral side of the furnace body 10 and induction-heats the metal to be molten stored in the storage recess 10a to produce a molten metal. At least a portion of the inner surface of the furnace body 10 constituting the storage recess 10a is covered with a heat buffer member 40 with a melting point higher than that of the metal to be molten. The melting furnace also includes an electric energy dividing means 52 for dividing the electric energy supplied to the induction heating coil 30, and a control section 60 for performing the next-step processing based on the electric energy divided by the electric energy dividing means 52.
