Abstract:
To realize a cold electron emitting element capable of emitting uniformly in one direction electrons emitted from an emitter without being deflected.
In this electron emitting element having a field effect transistor(FET) formed on the surface of a semiconductor layer and a conical emitter having a sharpened tip, an emitter forming area 11 is formed into a circular shape or a polygon, and a FET gate electrode 4 and a FET source electrode 9 in the form of a circular ring or a polygonal ring are disposed in the peripheral area of the emitter forming area.
