To conduct stable high-speed rolling without slipping or burning while maintaining superior luster by rolling one or more pass with cross-ground mill rolls with specific roughness in a specific diameter range of a reverse rolling mill while using rolling mill lubricant in a specific viscosity range.
When a metal plate is cold-rolled with a reverse rolling mill equipped with mill rolls, it is rolled at least one pass within a specified number of passes with mill rolls of 35-150 mm diameter which are cross-ground at the roughness Ra of 0.04-1.0 μm, using rolling mill lubricant of viscosity in the range of 5-50 cSt(40°C). This make it possible to produce the metal plate with superior luster of 900 (Gs20°) or higher glossiness, and realize stable high- speed rolling at 300 m/min or higher rolling velocity without slipping or burning while maintaining the glossiness. Grindings inclined by angles θ1 and θ2 respectively in clockwise and counterclockwise directions against the circumferential direction are mutually crossed.
