PURPOSE: To avoid the flagging by a shank comprising a plurality of relatively thick portions and a relatively thin portions as measured across a strip of a nail.
CONSTITUTION: A shank 14 of a nail 10 comprises relatively thick portions 74, 82 and a relatively thin portion 76 as measured across a strip S of the nail. A relatively thick portion adjoins a head 12. The relatively thin portion 76 is spaced from the head by means of the relatively thick portion adjoining the head. Another relatively thick portions 74, 82 adjoin the relatively thin portion 76. The relatively thick portions 74, 82 are cylindrical, and have equal diameters respectively. The nail is collated by tapes 62, 64 extending across tape recesses 78, 80 of the shank 14 of each nail and adhered thereto. The tapes 62, 64 are adhered to flat surfaces 84, 90 by means of adhesive layers 66, 68 between the tapes 62, 64 and the flat surfaces 84, 90 of the shank 14 of the nail. Thereby, the flagging can be avoided.
