Grooves 8a, 8b are formed in the central part of respective upper edges and in the central part of respective lower edges of four side plates 7a, 7b, 7c, 7d of a collection box body 7 which has a vertically-opened square frame shape and is formed of cardboard including corrugated cardboard, respectively. Respective end sides of binding strings hooked to the grooves 8b of the respective lower edges so as to form a cross shape at the lower opening of the collection box body 7 are pulled up from outer surfaces of the respective side plates so as to form the shape of a cross in the lower opening of the collection box body 7 and fixed to the grooves 8a of the respective upper edges, and then hung down in the collection body box 7 again. After old newspapers or the like stored in the collection box body 7 reach a prescribed amount, the respective end sides of the binding strings are removed from the grooves 8a, 8b, the collection box body 7 is pulled upward, and the predetermined amount of the old newspapers or the like are bound by the binding strings crossways.
