Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To compactly dispose a wire driving unit for moving a vehicle to be tested along a guide rail by a wire.
SOLUTION: A collision testing apparatus for the vehicle tests a function of a safety device against a collision like an air bag unit, a shoulder belt unit by fixing a pallet 13 carrying the vehicle V to be tested to a moving base 12 movably supported to a guide rail 11, pressing the base 12 by an injecting drive source 14 to inject the base 12 rearward along the rail 12 and thereby generating a negative acceleration at the vehicle V. Since a moving base towing unit 16 for returning the base 12 after the injection to an original position by an endless wire 15 is housed in a longitudinal direction range of the rail 1 of a pit P excavated on a floor surface, the entire length of the apparatus is compacted as compared with the case in which a wire driving unit 16 is disposed at an outside from the end of the rail 11, and hence the floor area can be effectively utilized.
