By changing responsively coefficients relating to a quadratic multiplication term with respect to each hue as to a 3-color input signal, to a linear operand by comparison data and to linear operand by comparison data concerned with areas among the hues and outputting the results of the change via the gradation characteristic conversion means, 6 hues of red, blue, green, yellow, cyan and magenta and only a hue of interest in areas among the 6 hues are changed without giving any effect onto other hues and nonlinear characteristics of an output device are corrected to conduct color conversion with high accuracy.
