To improve the ease of use at the time of carrying out calibration of a printing apparatus while a good color reproducibility to a reference color is obtained for printing images.
The printer (printing apparatus) 20 is made to print a patch for color correction (standard image) P3 of a standard ink recording amount in a state with an ink 1 loaded. The patch for color correction P3 printed by the ink 1 is subjected to colorimetry, and colorimetric data of the patch P3 is acquired. In accordance with a corresponding relation based on an ink recording amount between colorimetric data of an image formed on a printing medium by the ink 1 and colorimetric data of an image formed on the printing medium by an ink 2, the colorimetric data of the patch for color correction P3 printed on the printing medium by the ink 1 is converted to colorimetric data of a patch for color correction to be formed on the printing medium by the ink 2, and the converted colorimetric data and reference colorimetric data are compared with each other. Dot amount data (printing data) is corrected from the comparison result, thereby compensating for a color shift of the ink 2.
