Abstract:

To specify a color component of a color causing a defect, even when a defect of an image formed based on an image data is an achromatic color.

An inspection objective image is compared with a reference image, a defective pixel area is extracted in each of RGB color components by a defective pixel area extracting part when the defect is detected in the inspection objective image, a defect cause color specifying part extracts, as feature amounts, total area and the number of the defective pixels in each of the RGB color components, from the extracted defective pixel area in each of the RGB color components, and specifies the cause color of the defect. The feature amounts are mapped therein in a two-dimensional space when the defect is the achromatic color, and calculates a Euclidean distance in each of RG, GB and RB components. The cause color is specified as a K color when the calculated Euclidean distance is a prescribed threshold value or less, and the cause color is specified as a CMYK color when the calculated Euclidean distance is the threshold value or more. A color determination part determines that a cause of the defect is a monochromic color when the color component specified by the defect cause color specifying part is the K color, and determines that the cause of the defect is a color mixture when the color component is the CMYK color.
