To provide a color electrophotographic device which is small in size, enables to carry out all operations from the front side, and saves maintenance.
This device is provided with an image-forming-unit group 22 consisting of image forming units 21Y, 21M, 21C, and 21BK, a laser exposure device 44 disposed outside the image-forming-unit group 22, an intermediatetransfer-belt unit 2 having inside it an intermediate transfer belt for receiving toner images formed on a photoreceptor 27 in an image forming position 25, thereby forming a color image, and a re-transfer roller 43, as a re-transfer means, for transferring the color image, formed on the intermediate- transfer-belt, to recording paper 42 in a re-transfer position. The laser exposure device 44 is disposed in a space where at least its three sides are surrounded by the image-forming-unit group 22, the intermediate-transfer-belt unit 2, and a paper guide 54, as a paper carrying path, which carries the recording paper 42 to the re-transfer means from a paper feed position.
