To provide a color filter having excellent spectral characteristics and capable of simultaneously imparting high lightness and high saturation to a liquid crystal display (LCD).
The color filter includes at least one red filter segment, at least one blue filter segment and at least one green filter segment. The at least one red filter segment shows a ratio (A570/A595) of an absorbance (A570) to light at a wavelength of 570 nm to an absorbance (A595) to light at a wavelength of 595 nm, of 20 or more. The at least one red filter segment is formed of a red colored composition including: a coloring matter carrier comprising a single material or a mixture of two or more of a thermoplastic resin, a thermosetting resin, a photosensitive resin, a monomer or oligomer; and a miniaturized diketopyrrolopyrrole pigment dispersed in the coloring matter carrier.
