Abstract:
PURPOSE:To apply gamma(gamma) correction to the entire picture with simple constitution by producing an output picture based on a signal applying gamma correction to a signal of a black color component extracted from an input picture signal and a signal eliminating the black component from the input picture signal. CONSTITUTION:Three-color signals R, G, B are inputted to a black level extraction circuit 510 to extract a black level component included in then, and given to a black level correction circuit 520, where the black level component extracted by the circuit 510 is eliminated. Then the R, G, B signals whose black level component is eliminated by the circuit 520 are given to a masking circuit 530, from which three-color signals Y, M, C are produced. On the other hand, the black level signal extracted by the circuit 510 is fed to a gamma correction circuit 540, from which a black component signal BK subject to gamma correction is outputted. Then the picture of the black component signal BK is recorded together with the picture comprising the three-color signals Y, N, C to record a picture, in which the entire picture is subject to gamma correction.
