To provide a color image forming device capable of forming a high- definition recorded image by preventing the leading end area of a toner image primarily transferred onto an intermediate transfer belt from being soiled by toner scattering from the leading ends of a cleaning member and a sealing member to the intermediate transfer belt when a belt cleaner is set from a cleaning position to a retreat position.
As for the color image forming device, the toner image is primarily transferred from a photoreceptor drum 1 in accordance with every one rotation of the intermediate transfer belt 5, and the alighnment of plural color toner images is executed on the intermediate transfer belt 5, thereafter, the toner image is secondarily transferred to a recording sheet P in a mass, the timing of starting the movement of the belt cleaner 9 from the cleaning position to the retreat position is decided so that the toner soil on the intermediate transfer belt caused when the sealing member 22 of the belt cleaner 9 is separated from the intermediate transfer belt 5 may not be overlaid on the following primarily transferred toner image.
