Abstract:
PURPOSE: To attain stable color correction at all times by monitoring overlap deviation of plural colors and transfer density and correcting the colors based on the tendency of the overlap deviation and the transfer density.
CONSTITUTION: A continuous print mode is set, a 1st test chart is printed out and a color detector 28 measures colors of a stripe overlapped by two colors. An arithmetic section 42 obtains a hue from RGB data read by the detector 28 and obtains longitudinal lateral relative overlap deviation based on a difference between the hue and a reference hue as a correction value. The arithmetic section 42 obtains overlap deviation from a 2nd chart as an overlap deviation correction value. A laser emission position is corrected by controlling a start time based on a main scanning synchronizing reference signal or shifting a phase according to the correction values from the 1st and 2nd charts. The deviation in the sub-operating direction is corrected by controlling a start time based on a sub-operating direction reference position signal or controlling a belt drive motor 3 to shift the phase. The third and succeeding charts are corrected the same as the 2nd chart.
