PURPOSE: To maintain a color concentration, a coloring rate, a fog level and a level of a color mixture obtd. by a treatment for supplementing a developing force, and to enhance a sensitivity of a sensitive material by pretreating a silver halide sensitive material with a pretreating solution cotg. a color developing agent, immediately before the above described supplementing treatment.

CONSTITUTION: In a processing of obtaining a color image by carrying out the above described supplementing treatment of a silver halide (AgX) color sensitive material which is exposed imagewide with an axiliary developer for supplementing the developing force contg. H2O2 or a compd. capable of releasing H2O2 and the color developing agent and substantially free from Br- and I- ions, the sensitive material is treated with the prescribed pretreating solution, immediately before the above described supplementing treatment. The pretreating solution has preferably the same composition to the axiliary devel oper except H2O2 and the compd. releasing H2O2. By carrying out the above described pretreatment, immediatly before the above described supplementing treatment, the prescribed merits are obtd.
