PURPOSE: To facilitate adjustment of hue by processing a photographic sensitive material containing a specified magenta coupler with a liquid developer containing an aromatic primary amine color developing agent.
CONSTITUTION: The photographic sensitive material containing the magenta coupler represented by formula I or II is processed with the liquid developer containing the aromatic primary amine color developing agent. In these formulae, R1 is alkoxy, alkylamino, arylamino, or the like; R2 is a monovalent substituent; R3 is H, alkyl, or aryl; Z is O, N, or S; and X is H or a group to be released by the coupling reaction with the oxidation product of a color developing agent, thus permitting the magenta color image to be easily adjusted in hue and enhanced in color development density and gradation.
