PURPOSE: To attain interlacing to all color lights and to eliminate field residual image by improving the constitution of a color filter array and the arrangement of a transmission region of each color light and obtaining a horizontal scanning line signal from the weighted addition of three rows of picture element trains of a solid-state image pickup element.
CONSTITUTION: The constitution of the color filter array 2 is formed as shown in figure (a) and the transmission section of red and blue lights is obtained as shown figures b, c. Further, the entire region of the array 2 transmits a green light. A signal being the addition between a half of the signal of the picture element of the (2n-2)th row of the solid-state image pickup element 1 and a half of the signal of the picture element of the 2n-th row and the (2n-1)th row is used as an output signal of the n-th horizontal scanning line at an odd number field, and a signal being the addition among a half of the signal of the picture element of the (2n-1)th row of the image pickup element 1 and a half of the signal of the picture element of the 2n-th row and the (2n+1)th row is used as a signal of the n-th horizontal scanning line and they are read from the image pickup element in an even number field. Thus, the interlacing where the combination of the added picture element rows is made different is conducted at odd and even number fields. Since one horizontal scanning line signal read from the image pickup element 1 is obtained from three picture element rows, all picture element signals are read within one field period.
