To provide a color liquid crystal display device which has high color purity of ≥80% NTSC ratio.
The color liquid crystal display device is constituted by combining a light shutter utilizing liquid crystal 7, a color filter 9 having at least three color elements of red, green and blue corresponding to the light shutter and back lights 1, 2 for transmission illumination. The color liquid crystal display device is satisfied by the following conditions: (1) I(λn)×TG(λn) > 0.01 in regard to any one wave length of 500 nm<λn<530 nm; (2) I(λn)×TG(λn) < 0.0001 in regard to wave length region of 610 nm<λn<650 nm; and (3) I(λn)×TG(λn) < 0.0001 in regard to wave length region of 400 nm<λn<450 nm, wherein, TG(λn) is spectral transmission factor of a green pixel in the color filter 9 at wave length λn nm (wave length at every 5nm in the visible light region of 380∼780nm) and I(λn) is relative light intensity normalized by total light intensity from the back light at the wave length λn nm.
