Abstract:
PURPOSE:To increase the transmissivity of a liquid crystal color panel and reduce the power consumption, and to reduce heat generation by using the complementary colors of the three primary colors for color filters. CONSTITUTION:A liquid crystal color display 4 consists of, for example, an active matrix type liquid crystal color panel where TFT(thin film transistor) are arranged as picture elements and a driving circuit which generates a signal for driving the liquid crystal color panel. Complementary color filters 4C, 5M, and 5Y which cut off the primary colors, i.e. red, green, and blue are arranged, for example, in a delta shape corresponding to the picture elements. Consequently, the transmissivity of the liquid crystal panel can be increased and even when the quantity of backlighting is reduced, sufficient brightness is obtained, the power consumption is reduced, and the problem of the heat generation of the backlighting can be evaded.
