Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve the cell gap uniformity in a seal part and a display part by providing the seal part, of a color liquid crystal cell with a black matrix layer, too.

CONSTITUTION: A transparent electrode 3 patterned into a prescribed shape is arranged on a glass substrate 1, and red, green, and blue color filter layers 2R, 2G, and 2B are successively and repeatedly formed on this electrode 3 by the electrodeposition method. Spaces among color filter layers and the seal part are provided with black matrix layers 4 and 12, respectively. A top coat layer 5 is provided on color filter layers 2R, 2G, and 2B and black matrix layers 4 and 12, and a patterned transparent electrode 6 is provided on this layer 5. Meanwhile, a transparent electrode 8 patterned into a prescribed shape is arranged on the other glass substrate 7 facing the glass substrate 1, and liquid crystal 10 is enclosed and hermetically sealed by a seal part 9 provided in the outer peripheral parts of two glass substrates 1 and 7.
