Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a method for digitizing a color negative image and correcting a signal by such a method where an image signal is linearly related the luminance of a photographed scene for grey tones in the scene.
CONSTITUTION: The real color of a scene 31 is reproduced based on a color corrected image signal on a color display unit 39. In order to determine the correction, a characteristic system curve indicating the relation between the luminance of the neutral color of a scene 31 and a density sensed by a scanning system to each of respective color components is used. Some methods for preparing a system curve are described. In addition a method for obtaining a color corrected image signal by color conversion and a method for determining conversion are described.
